The emotional states that I would like to invoke in my major projects this trimester is mainly fear doubt and sadness I want the player to experience the characters misfortunes and fears that they have only to push forward and break through the characters faults and doubts and conquer there fear, in doing so also teach the player no matter what to keep moving forward because life never stops and there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.
By doing some further research on Medias that have successfully made me feel these emotions and satisfaction of completing a characters story in a game, For the fear category Dead space 1 and the movie insidious made me fearful while playing and watching it, They both made extremely good use of audio and lighting to increase the atmospheric tension while I was immersed in these medias I felt freaked out and scared but I stayed to the end.
For the category of sadness the book my sisters keeper had a really strong sadness to it especially the ending (No spoilers) if you haven’t read it, what this book done really well is that they made me get emotionally attached to each character in the story I got to know how they were in the past and at the current time of the books events and how they are all connected I felt I could relate to some characters and like I knew them so when the horribly sad event at the end of the book there was still light at the end of the tunnel as something good was forged out of the sadness.
In my projects I would like to make this emotional connection between my character and the user as they play the game and feel a sense of relatability and connecting with the character so when the character breaks past his fears it will encourage the players to do the same in their life.

During the week I was tasked to make emotional game ideas through brainstorming techniques I will admit I haven’t yet but enough research into other ways of brainstorming but the whole vomit ideas for a limited time looking at a picture and how it makes you feel is a really interesting and for me an effective way to generate quick ideas. I still am weak at making those ideas stick with game mechanics but this task has made me generate an game idea titled ‘Dark of the Night” which I am reworking because I really like the idea and it will teach me how to properly have good me mechanics with my creative ideas in the future and for my coming projects.
